Tackling back-to-school anxiety

At Bop Till You Drop, building children’s confidence and ensuring they are happy is at the core of everything we do.

So when we found this article on Beyond Blue about Tackling back-to-school anxiety, we just had to share it with our wonderful parents and community.

Here are some great tips if your little one is starting school for the first time

  1. Have a few ‘dry runs’ of the trip to and from school so your child is familiar with the route and what to expect.
  2. Set up some playdates in the holidays with local kids who are also starting school so they see some familiar faces on day one.
  3. Visit the school – check out the playground, find their classroom and have a wander round so they can get used to where things are.
  4. Invent a fun routine to make saying goodbye a bit easier – try a high-five, bear hug or secret handshake.
  5. Talk positively about the day ahead on the way to school and remind your child where you’ll be at pick-up time.
  6. Drawn-out goodbyes can be upsetting, especially if other kids are getting emotional. Once your child is settled in their classroom, give them some final positive reassurance and beat a hasty retreat.
  7. Try to limit other activities during the first few weeks – the transition to school can be tiring and kids need down time.
  8. Schedule a family celebration or a Skype call from grandparents on the weekend to mark the milestone – after all, starting school is a pretty big deal!

  • Ivy had a wonderful birthday party on Saturday. I wanted to particularly thank Mitchell, the Entertainer. He was an absolute blast and I got some lovely feedback from other parents who certainly noticed how great he was. He was perfectly on time, ran the activities really smoothly and had a whole room of 7 and 8 year old girls delighted and enthralled. The Hunters Hill Club location was also fantastic. They had everything set up when we arrived and the hot food and fruit platters looked amazing and was delicious. Thank you for providing everyone with such lovely memories, I will definitely be recommending a Bop til you Drop party to anyone planning a dance party!

  • A massive thank you to a Stacey and Chips for hosting my daughters 5th Birthday Disco party. Your music was perfect and you both did a fantastic job involving all children and making the birthday girl feel extra special. Stacey is such a fantastic entertainer and has a gift with the children. She can remember all the children’s names and she’s only just met them at the party. Chips is beautiful and fun too. A great pair. Thank you ladies for a relaxed birthday party that all the children loved.
