Can we do a glow party outdoors?

We do prefer indoor parties, that way the disco lights & glow effects have a better effect. We also recommend having the party in the evening for this same reason, or if it’s during the day all-natural light will need to be blocked out. We also find that outdoor parties don’t seem to work as well as indoor parties. Reason being is that swing sets and trampolines can cause a distraction, therefore it is best to limit activity on these items during the party or make the area ‘out-of-bounds’.

We do however recommend the food break be outside. This is when things can get a bit messy, therefore outdoors is ideal. If you really want to have your event outdoors, we do have some regulations to comply with for our Public Liability Insurance. We cannot set up on grass as all electrical cords must be taped down and both the equipment and children must be undercover. If your event is during the day, all the children need to wear hats, sunscreen and have regular drink breaks. But always have a wet weather plan if your event is outdoors.

What decorations do I need?

We provide two fantastic disco lights and everything you need for the GLOW (Deluxe Package comes with the paint plus glow bracelets)! These combined are effective in creating a spectacular glowing party atmosphere. Feel free to put any other form of decorations, however, please keep in mind you may not be able to see them in the dark unless they are glowing decorations.

Is the glow party suitable for boys and girls?

Yes, the songs and games included are not gender specific at all – the glow party is the perfect setting for boys and girls to hang out together. We always tailor the party to suit the age, gender and musical interests of the children/tweens attending your party. Therefore, if there are a lot of boys we will alter the style of the party to suit, same applies if there are all girls, mixed ages, etc.

How big does the room need to be?

Glow parties do not need a huge space. Depending on the number of children/tweens, usually a lounge room or single to double car garage size is big enough. Contrary to what you may think, big halls don’t seem to work as well.

How many children should I invite?

We suggest 15 – 30 children are the ideal number to create a disco party atmosphere. However we can do parties with less or more, we will always cater the disco to make sure all the children are engaged and having fun.

What time will the entertainer arrive?

The glow party entertainer will arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled party start time (this is with an allocated car spot or parking within 20 meters from the venue).

This gives them adequate time to meet the birthday boy or girl, meet the parents, and set up equipment to be ready for the first guests. It also leaves plenty of time for parents to ask any questions, request any songs, or discuss special requirements.

When do we have a food break?

We always give the teens a 15-minute food break in the middle of a 2hr disco (don’t worry we will keep the music going!). If they have eaten beforehand or will eat after, we will use that time to apply the glow paint or tattoos, depending on the package chosen.

Do I need to provide anything for the entertainer?

The Entertainer will need an allocated car spot. For the disco set up, all the entertainers will need is a small table near a power point to plug in their equipment.

Do I need to do anything during the party?

The only thing you will need to do is get the food ready for the break time. The entertainer will arrange the children around the table and assist with serving the food and drinks.

Are the entertainers ‘screened’?

Yes, all the staff and entertainers of Bop till you Drop have been approved with the ‘Working with Children Check’.

Do I need to provide a parking spot for the entertainer?

Yes. Your entertainer will need an allocated parking spot as close to your house/venue as possible. There is a lot of heavy equipment to unload (and reload) and we want the disco to run as smoothly as possible and on time. Please note you will need to pay for parking should free parking not be available. Also, please ensure you give the office clear directions on exactly where your house/venue is located. It is also a great idea to stick a balloon on your front gate.

What if someone hurts themselves, are you insured?

Bop till you Drop has $20 million dollars Public Liability Insurance. We are happy to provide you with our Certificate of Currency should you require it for hall bookings, this way you will not have to pay extra for insurance.
