School Holidays Programs FAQs – Melbourne My children need something fun to do in the School Holidays!

What if I want to cancel my booking?
If cancelled within 7 days of the first workshop date, we do not provide refunds, but we will provide you with a credit.  If your child is unable to attend due to illness, we will provide you with a credit upon presentation of a medical certificate.

Credits can be used towards your booking for a future workshop or event booking with Bop till you Drop. If the event is cancelled due to COVID – 19 a full refund will be provided. Please call 1300 130 313 if you wish to discuss.

How many children per class?
The children will be split into groups. Each class will contain approximately 10-15 children per teacher. The children are grouped according to their age and with friends. Sometimes classes can grow to 20 children; in this incidence a second teacher will be present. There is also an additional supervisor who oversees the whole workshop and helps out were necessary.

Can my child be grouped with their friends?
Yes of course, as long as their friends are in the same age group. We want your child to have the best time possible therefore we need to group your child based on their maturity.

What if my child does not know anyone?
Do not worry; this is a perfect opportunity for your child to make new friends. The program consists of numerous team building activities, especially on the first morning which encourage the children to mix with others.

Does my child have to attend the whole program?
We strongly encourage your child to attend the whole program. Each day the children are put into groups for various activities and some activities carry on over to the following day. The children also build friendships and may be put out if someone doesn’t attend the whole program. Part attendance will need to be confirmed at the discretion of the office.

How is the day structured?
We begin each day with fun warm up activities, and then like a school day the children are put into groups and off to classes stopping for recess and lunch. The classes over the two days will consist of: Dancing, singing, acting, craft, science and cooking.

What does my child have to bring?

  • A WATER BOTTLE!
  • Recess and lunch. No allergy foods such as nuts or foods with nut traces.
  • Hat and sunscreen.
  • Clothes suitable for active classes.
  • Closed shoes suitable for running and dancing, e.g. sandshoes. (please no thongs, sandals or dress shoes).
  • Any medication.

What should my child NOT bring?

  • Food with nuts or nut traces.
  • Valuable toys, such as IPods, iPads etc.
  • Mobile phones.

If it is absolutely necessary your child brings a mobile phone or any of the above, please understand Bop Till You Drop is not liable for any loss or damage.

What time is the concert on the second day?
The concert is held on the second day 40 minutes before the finishing time of the workshop. We welcome and encourage all parents, guardians, grandparents, family and friends to come and witness their proud performance. They will also be awarded a certificate for their efforts.

What do they wear/bring for the concert?
If possible, we would love your child to wear red and black, but only if they already have these colours. Please do not go out and buy new clothing for the concert. If you do not have black/red tops and bottoms, the closest colour to black/red will do. Some children will bring props also.

Who are the teachers?
Bop Till You Drop employs qualified teachers, child care workers or experienced entertainers. They have all undergone an extensive training program in Occupational, Health and Safety. Bop till you Drop is a Child Safe Organisation, and practices in line with Victorian Standards. Entertainers have received Child Safe Training, as well as at least one staff member with a senior first aid certificate. You can also rest assured that all staff have been approved by the ‘Working with Children Check’ and Reference Checks.

Are you insured?
Yes, we have up to 20 million dollars Public Liability Insurance.

What about safety?
At every workshop the entertainers will run through what to do in case of an emergency, this includes incidences such as fire.

What happens to disruptive children?
Please be aware that bullying, aggressive or non-co-operative behaviour is not acceptable. If we feel the safety and interests of the other children are being jeopardised because of this behaviour you will be asked to collect your child immediately. In this incidence no refund will be made.
